**Settings → Resources** is the Services-mode equivalent of the product catalogue. The page states its own job: *Define what your customers can reserve or rent — tables, services, vehicles, equipment. Each type holds individual resources you can manage independently.*

The counters at the top give you the **Active types**, the **Archived** ones, the **Total**, and the number of **Timezones** in use. Below them, a search box and two tabs separate active types from archived ones.

## Types and units

The model has two levels, and the difference matters.

| Level | What it is |
| --- | --- |
| **Resource type** | The service the customer books: a treatment, a session, a table, a vehicle. This is what the agent quotes in conversation. |
| **Resource** | An individual unit inside a type: one specific table, one room, one vehicle, one team member. Useful only when each unit must be tracked separately. |

Opening a type takes you to its units, which start empty.

> **You do not have to create units.** If you book by capacity — *three treatments at once* rather than *chair number 2* — leave the resource list empty and just set the type's capacity. That is the common case for salons and service providers.

## Create a resource type

Click **New resource type**. The form fits on one page.

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **How is it allocated?** | **Reservation / appointment** — a time-bounded session, like a haircut or a restaurant table. **Rental** — the customer rents an item over a flexible window. **Both** — the same resource supports either flow. |
| **Name** | The name the agent uses in conversation. Write it the way your customer would say it. |
| **Description** | What the service includes and any special rules. The agent draws on it to answer detail questions. |
| **AI customer questions** | What the agent asks **before** it books. See below. |
| **Resource model** | **Capacity-based** — a number of seats per slot. **Specific resource** — each unit is distinct and booked by name. |
| **Default duration (min)** | How long the service runs. It sets the proposed end time. |
| **Slot interval (min)** | The step between two offered slots. 30 means appointments at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00. |
| **Capacity per slot** | Total seats or units available concurrently for the same time window. |
| **Timezone** | The zone the slots are counted in. Worth checking if you operate in more than one country. |
| **Allow overbooking** | Accepts allocations even when capacity is full. They are flagged as conflicts. |
| **Active** | Inactive types are hidden from AI tools and customer-facing flows. This is the clean way to retire a service without deleting it. |

**Create type** saves it.

## The questions the agent asks

**AI customer questions** is the most useful field on the form and the one most often left empty. You list what the agent must ask before it books. The hint under the field is explicit: *The AI will ask the customer these questions before creating an allocation. Their answers are saved as the allocation description.*

The interface suggests two shapes:

- **A dress rental** — what size do you need (S, M, L, XL)? what colour do you prefer?
- **A restaurant** — any allergies or dietary restrictions? do you need a high chair?

> **This is what fills the record in your place.** The answers are saved on the reservation under **Customer answers**. Filled in well, these questions spare you the phone call that otherwise follows every booking.

## Active and archived types

Two tabs split active types from archived ones, and the counters at the top follow.

![A complete service catalogue: services one by one, then the bundled offers at the end of the list.](https://support.unifunl.io/help/screenshots/45-resources-types-full.jpg)

> **A bundle is a type like any other.** An offer that groups several services is created as its own resource type, with its own duration and its own questions. The agent then quotes it as a single service.

## FAQ and troubleshooting

### The agent never mentions a service I created

Check that the type is **Active**. Inactive types are hidden from the agent's tools, which is exactly what the toggle is for.

### Should I create a resource for every chair or every room?

Only if you need to track each unit separately — a specific vehicle, a named room. If you book by capacity, create the type alone and set **Capacity per slot**.

### Two customers asked for the same slot

Availability is checked before every creation, from the type's duration and capacity. If **Allow overbooking** is on, the booking is accepted anyway and flagged as a conflict.

### How do I retire a service?

Turn **Active** off, or archive the type. Both keep its history; deleting does not.

## What's next?

Once the agent can book, the reservations land in one place.
